1789 -- badge

1789 is a short chamber larp set in the French Revolution, vaguely inspired by Arthur Schintzler’s play The Green Cockatoo. It takes place on the fatal night of 14th July 1789. Along with the theme of the revolution it also opens the questions of human guilt and lust for vengeance.

The Green Cockatoo is a tavern where a diverse hotchpot of Parisians was driven by the ravaging crowds. There are poor workers and students along with rich nobles and citizens. It is just a matter of time until the hot-tempered spirit of revolution arrives to this cellar as well.

Do you like movies, but always kind of hope for the story to happen to you, instead of an actor on the silver screen? Now, you have an option to do something about it.

There’s larp. Larp allows you to experience things you hardly could otherwise.

Our larps

About us

What is larp

In few words: it’s an experience that allows you to try something that you hardly could otherwise.

How does it look like

Let’s say you like larp Star, where you can attend a Hollywood party. You sign up and meet the rest of the players (who liked Star as well) in a rented bar, where the lector will be awaiting you. He will explain how the larp works and introduces the characters – directors, actresses, producers and all the other animals in the showbusiness world that will come to the party tonight.

You choose the character you like the best and get all the information you need about it (their past, how they act, what they aim for tonight, what are their relations with the others, some rumours…), and also important props (maybe indiscreet pictures of someone present) and costume accesories (fancy a hat, or a boa?). Once you are ready, it’s time to enter the world of Hollywood.

During the evening, you will experience a party of movie stars. In your character, you will gossip on who’s getting along with whom at the moment, you will seduce famous actresses and make deals about the newest blockbusters – these are the plots prepared for you.

It will be no theatre that would make you read the script out loud. You can act whatever you like and you have the chance to influence the whole party. Every larp ends in its own unique way.

Is it for me?

The main argument that people generally use not to take part is “oh, it’s not for me”. But when you first try it out, you will see it’s the most stupid argument in the world. Sign up, find out what it is like, and judge only afterwards. Sounds fair, doesn’t it?

Every two weeks, we make larps in Brno for people who have no experience with larping. If that description fits, browse the page of Larps in Trojka.

Court of Moravia, o.s.

We are Court of Moravia and we have been dedicated to larp for quite some time (seven years, to be exact). We do everything from game design and screenwriting to implementation and marketing. And judging by satisfied participants, we do that fair and right.

Our portfolio includes more than two dozens of larps, we host international festival Larpweekend every year, we have co-founded larp conference Odraz and also done a whole bunch of other things that we won’t bother you with. What really matters is what we are going to do tomorrow, not memories of what we did yesterday.

What makes our larps entertaining

No audience
There is no audience here, nor will anyone from the participants spent time watching you or evaluating your actions, because everyone focuses mostly on himself.

Socializing
You can meet your friends, acquintances, collegues or new people, and during the larp, you will go though much more interesting situations together that you would if you only went out to a pub.

Strong stories
We base the larps on stories as strong as the ones you know from movies or books. But unlike in the movies or books, you are one of the main characters and it’s up to you to decide how the story will evolve.

Experience
In larp, it’s all about your experience. The experience is something you will not forget – and it makes for a great story for your friends. (besides, shared experience unites people).

Meaningful activity
Although larp is mostly fun, it is far from pointless waste of time. Larp is used around the world as an education method and it has the power to develop your personality (even though people don’t like to admit it).

Various topics
We have all kinds of larp, in various genres with different plots. If the Hollywood party is not your cup of tea, maybe you’ll be more interested in gangsters in Tarantino style, club in Victorian England or an artistic family drama.

The age doesn’t matter
Larp is popular among people in the age of twenty, thirty, fourty, or freshly adult.

Schola ludus – totalism

15th November 2009; website VysokeSkoly.cz (Colleges.cz)

“Somehow I couldn’t get out of that game. I heard the anthem all the time and in the morning I woke up after a night full of dreams, with the belief I was in a totalitarian regime.’ covers the intensity of the experience Veronika Bartošová, one of the participants.”

A course in totalism? Also a way to spend free time

13th October 2009; Lidové noviny (The People’s Newspaper)

Visitors to the village Zubří in the Žďársko region could feel like they had travelled back in time last weekend. At least thanks to the credible scenery of the experiential weekend System, where the participants pretended living in a totalitarian state for two days.

Larpweekend 5 report (from the show Culture in the Regions)

26th and 27th November 2008; Česká televize (Czech Television)

Find your own role: Larp

9th May 2008; MF Plus

The organisers from Court of Moravia have been devoted to larp since its first Czech steps. During the course of time, they diverted from the mainstream. Today they perceive larp as an elaborate story with credible acting performances and art ambitions.

Larp alias a game of life (from the cycle Written by life)

20th October 2007; Český rozhlas (Czech Broadcast)

New way of entertainment, spread especially between young people, was the target for Pavel Gotthard in today’s follow-up of the cycle about your fates and stories. He paid a visit to Petr Pouchlý and other participants of these larps – games of life and its stories.
